Is EF offering tours to honour the 65th anniversary of the Battle of Ortona?

Yes! EF has 3 exciting new tours to commemorate the 65th anniversary of the Battle of Ortona and pay tribute to the famous WWII Italian Campaign. They are:

Each tour includes a journey through history-rich Italy, an in-depth focus on the WWII Italian Campaign, and participation in the Official Ortona 65th Anniversary Remembrance Ceremony.

Are the departure dates flexible?

Yes. We know how busy you are, so we’ve made it as convenient as possible for you and your students to travel. You can choose from 9 different departure dates in November and December 2008, and March, April and May 2009. EF is the only company to give you that much flexibility and choice.

Is Veterans Affairs Canada involved in the 65th anniversary of Ortona?

EF has a strong relationship with Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), having worked closely with them to ensure the success of EF’s Remembering Vimy Ridge tour in 2007. We’ve spoken at length with VAC and they assure us that they are not organizing or involved in any event commemorating the 65th anniversary of the Battle of Ortona in Italy in 2008. They are, however, considering organizing an official commemoration event for November 2009 and have invited EF Educational Tours to be part of that event. We will continue to be in close contact with VAC and will communicate more details of the 2009 event once they are released.

Will there be a ceremony to commemorate the 65th anniversary of the Battle of Ortona?

Yes. EF’s Remembering the Italian Campaign tour includes an exclusive remembrance ceremony in Ortona on December 28th, 2008 – the actual anniversary date - to honour the soldiers that fought so bravely at Ortona and in the Italian Campaign.

Every EF tour to Ortona, regardless of which tour and departure date you choose, includes a special 65th Anniversary Remembrance Ceremony. In some cases, if there several groups on tour at the same time, you will have the opportunity to participate in the ceremony with hundreds of other teachers and students from all over Canada.

Are others offering tours to Ortona?

We know of one other organization offering a tour to Ortona, however, they offer only one itinerary with one set departure date in November 2008 (one year before the potential event planned by Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC)). Since VAC is not working exclusively with any one organization or individual in planning for an event in Ortona, the choice becomes about which tour company you trust the most to lead your tour.

Why should I choose to travel with EF?

Simply put, with EF you’ll get the best tour at the best price - guaranteed. Only EF offers you multiple Ortona tour itineraries and your choice of departure dates – so you can choose the most relevant and convenient tour for you. See why we EF is really the best student educational tour company to travel with.

What was EF’s Remembering Vimy Ridge tour like?

EF’s Remembering Vimy Ridge tour was an overwhelming success! We sent more than 2,000 students to Vimy Ridge to participate in the 90th anniversary celebrations and rededication ceremony. The feedback we received from teachers and students all over Canada was touching - and extremely positive. Thanks to everyone for making this such an incredible experience!
